ISO 22000 = ISO 9001 + HACCP

ISO 22000: This is a well-known international food safety management tool based on a quality management system that has been specifically adapted for the food industry's workflow.

The ISO 22000 certification process generally consists of 10 steps, beginning with a firm commitment from senior management to implement the system:

  1. Appoint a system leader and form an ISO project team.
  2. Define the scope of the company's implementation and understand the needs and expectations of stakeholders.
  3. Provide ISO 22000 training and establish a HACCP plan.
  4. Execute documentation and a standards system.
  5. Conduct internal audits and document verification.
  6. Apply to an external certification body for a preliminary assessment.
  7. Undergo a third-party external audit.
  8. Address and correct any deficiencies found in the preliminary assessment.
  9. Obtain the ISO 22000 certificate.
