ISO 22000 = ISO 9001 + HACCP
ISO 22000: This is a well-known international food safety management tool based on a quality management system that has been specifically adapted for the food industry's workflow.
The ISO 22000 certification process generally consists of 10 steps, beginning with a firm commitment from senior management to implement the system:
- Appoint a system leader and form an ISO project team.
- Define the scope of the company's implementation and understand the needs and expectations of stakeholders.
- Provide ISO 22000 training and establish a HACCP plan.
- Execute documentation and a standards system.
- Conduct internal audits and document verification.
- Apply to an external certification body for a preliminary assessment.
- Undergo a third-party external audit.
- Address and correct any deficiencies found in the preliminary assessment.
- Obtain the ISO 22000 certificate.
